What is a good Food Processor?

I've always used my knives to cut everything up but now we are on a mostly vegetarian diet and there is just too much cutting and chopping to make it fun any more. Does anyone have any recommendations for food processors that will be good mainly for cutting up lots and lots of veggies. I've also got a mandoline for making even slices but I've found myself dicing and chopping way too much recently. I don't think we'll be using it to make dough, or grinding meat, etc. Mainly just for veggies, maybe some hummus, etc.

I don't mind paying for a good quality one but I really don't need a professional grade one (no Robot Coupe).

Thanks.

The older Cuisenart's were really good. I'm not sure about quality and performance today.

Since you will be using your a LOT, don't skimp on the motor or quality.

Get Cuisinart or KitchenAid. They're both good so go for the best price. Get a big one, much more useful than the small ones. They're widely discounted, so shop around online for the best discount.

I bought an 11-cup KitchenAid KPF600 in February 2000. The motor and the blades are still good, but I replaced the work bowl lid in 2010 and the work bowl this year. Those are the parts that wear out. The KPF600 is long out of production and KitchenAid doesn't sell replacement parts, but — you're going to like this — Robot Coupe® does. They don't throw things away in France the way we do here. I must admit it ticked me off to pay $35 for a piece of injection molded plastic, but for ¼ the price of a 12-cup KitchenAid I bit the robot.

If you look you can generally find them at thrift stores for not much money. I have too have an older Kitchen Aid that is still going strong, but I also have an old made in France Cuisinart with all the attachments that I got at a thrift for something like $10. Back when they first came to America people bought the Cuisinart and then never used it. I doubt my Kitchen Aid (also made in France) will ever wear out but if it does I have a replacement on standby.

So I ended up with a Kitchenaid 9 cup from Bed Bath & Beyond. It was 150 bucks, but I got 30 off with their ever present 20% off coupons. The good news is that the chopping blade is very sharp. The bad news is how I found out that the blade was very sharp. :(
