I acquired a whole mess of GI parts for the 1911, and I am looking at different frames to build a couple of .45's on. All I need are two slides, and two frames. I have looked at SARCO, Chip McCormick, and found a couple. Any suggestions on frame brands or leads on companies offering them?

Brownells has alot of 45 parts including frames and slides. I recently just finished a Springfield Milspec with all of the bells and whistles(beavertail, ambi thumb safety, full length guide rod). It turned out great.

Thanks DBH, I am awaiting my Brownell's book. I sent off for it a few weeks ago with a copy of my FFL, and it hasn't gotten here yet.

You wouldn't happen to have any pics of that 1911 would you?

Here she is with a real bad pic(the gun and the knife look good though). This is after the gun was sent to get brushed chrome at Checkmate in Florida:

Yeah, i loved 9mms along time ago until I saw the light:p I own about 4 1911s, and I absolutely love them. That pistol has about 5,000 rounds through both before and after the goods were put on.

Les Baer is making some of the best frames and slides going.......not the cheapest.........who made that knife?
That is not to say that there arent a LOT of good 45 makers out there, just have a lot of experience with his guns. He ran the Springfield Armory Custom shop before he started his own company.

Tom, I agree, he makes awesome 45s. I shot a friends Thunder Ranch model and it was probably the best I have ever shot. I wish I could afford one. The knife is a Lightfoot 460 Magnum.

I ordered the Essex frame from Brownell's and some other parts to build a GI 1911, so when it is done I will post some pics. Thanks again.
