What is a high quality duffel bag? Perhaps for bugout?

I am not a end of the world kind of guy, so I don't need a bugout bag, per se. What I do need is a nice bag to keep all my tactical gear though. That includes binoculars, flashlights galore, misc. scopes, knives, GPS, compass, etc.

So what is a well built, high quality bag that can be used for this purpose? I don't want to use a sports one since I find the material plastic-ky and slippery. I'd prefer something in black and probably nylon?

It doesn't have to be terribly large, but not too small either.

Thoughts? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

As long as you plan on keeping all that gear in one place, it might as well be in a bug out bag, that is, in a bag you can carry easily. Get a good, medium-sized backpack.

Take a look at http://www.specopsbrand.com/main.html for Organizers and check out the Pack-Rat, which is an organizer insert for a larger pack.

For emergency purposes, it makes sense to have it all in one place, and be able to take the one place with you. But being organized makes it easier to find what you need, or to select out what you want to take on a less-than-emergency basis.

Eagle Industries makes a line of travel bags and a few duffels as well. All their gear is Cordura, made in the USA, and comes with a lifetime warantee. Costs a little more but well worth it.

You might also take a close look @ BAD Bags... Heavy Cordura, range of sizes, SUPER construction, made in USA, and minimal "tactical" appearance, even in black. These are my most frequently used luggage... I currently have five in different sizes, colors, etc., and really have found them to be a great value!
Hope this helps. :)

Eagle Industries Their stuff is well built and worth the money.

What ever you do, buy a good bag. Good heavy duty zippers, 1000 denier cordura, good sewing. The difference between crap and the good stuff really isn't that much in most cases.

I think the BAD bags look super durable, but I hate the cheesy logo patch. And some parts seem to be kind of shiny. Maybe I am viewing them wrong.

I think I will pick one up anyway.

I looked at Eagle Industries and nothing really caught me eye.

Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming.

I don't think there's any way you'll be disappointed in the BADs. :)
Just watch out that you don't end up with a half a dozen of the things!
(Quality equipment... Sebbies, Glocks, Firesteels, LM Waves, etc. have a way of demanding that we acquire several....) :D

As for the logo tag, I wasn't too thrilled when one of my newer bags came in with an ID patch on the outside... but those corrections are easily made with a seam ripper (or a Sebenza...)

Please, guys, let me know how you like your bag after you get it and use it...

I've been looking for a good duffel for some time now. The BAD bags seem to be what I've been looking for. I just might have to pick one up.
