I have noticed some people on this forum talk about "pass around" knives. Someone please enlighten me. Thanks.

A knife that the owner has offered to send to others to drool over and perhaps use or test out. A knife others are interested in. Good fun. :)

Some one volunteers their knife to let others who may never have a chance at seeing one get to play with it.:thumbup:

You should pass that Taliwacker around:eek::eek:

Steelnut - that is exactly why I asked? How many of you would be interested in seeing it?

I have seen the Taliwhacker, They are SWEET!
You have to let them use it too, so it would not be mint when it came home.

I love that movie, I had to sneak in to see it because I was underage:cool:

I think the piont of the pass around it to get to use it,
but maybe you could have a drool only clause?:D

Pass arounds are usually to let others use it. But a lot of guys sent the knife back to the shop for a touch up when the pass around is over.

I think PM needs to pass that black & yeller SFNO around. :D

So a pass around is for user knives only then?

There have been passarounds for non-user blades - usually a discontinued, somewhat rare blade that others just want to get their hands on to see if they like it.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Many of the Busse blades, discontinued for years but still sought after, have never been in the hands of the prospective buyer. I, like many others, am sorta picky about how the blade handle feels and have been both positively and negatively surprised by some.

Different strokes - the same reason you see multiple handle configurations from Busse. Eu / Fusion / TAC / SF and mag/std variations of many of those. I love mag - some people complain it feels like a golf ball in your hand. It all depends on hand geometry. The Howling Rat size res-c fits me great. The Basic 3/5? Not so much.

Feel free to start a passaround for a non-user. I would be surprised if there wasn't interest. No hard and fast rules other than No Regrets!

The owner puts a knife out there for a pass around. Usually about 10 or so folks get in on it. Each has about a week to chop and test it, then write their thoughts on it in the "Pass around" thread. Each person mails it priority insured for a designated amount of money to the next guy. And sometimes at the end if everyone who had it wants to put in some money to have it refurbed......or just leave it as God intended....a hard "used" knife. They are great, but you REALLY need to trust the folks in the pass around.

I think PM needs to pass that black & yeller SFNO around. :D

Not a chance!!! Now, the sage/black mag CG, after a little more use by me :D, now that's a real possibility (probability.) But ol' Busse yellow/black?! Tyrk, you are drinking too much, way too early in the AM. ;):p Don't let those dogs drink that poison!!

I don't think there would be much use to pass the sterile taliwhacker around. The only thing that makes it different from the taliwhackers sold to the public is that this one is sterile, and, from what I understand, the only sterile one that went to someone other than special ops military personnel.
