I have a number of 4 inch stockman knives. How does a premium stockman differ from other stockman knives?

Thanks,

Willieboy

It generally refers to the size of the knife.
Any stockman 3 1/2, and above is considered a premium stockman, below that they are considered junior stock knives.

Also, stock knives over 4.25 sometime's get special nick names like "Cattle King", etc....

HTH:D:).

Another take on a "Premium Stockman" is a very highly finished
stockman. All the metal surfaces, inside and out, will be highly polished
to a mirror finish overall. The handle scales will be fine horn, stag or
pearl. The blades will be thin enough to cut like a razor with a polish
that just shines along with maybe a special fancy main blade etch.

These are the "custom" made knives of grandpa's day. His Sunday
and Marryin' knife. When the word, "Permium" was applied in grandpa's
day it ment a very fine fancy knife. Even today these old "premium"
knives are a wonder to behold.
