Sorry, this may seem like a dumb question, but can anyone describe a shank drawn tang blade?

Thanks:confused:

The round shank is forged and drawn out from the stock that the blade is made of. The tang is formed in this way and in this case, slightly curved and inserted into the stag.

The other way is to weld the shank/tang to the blade.

Of course, I am not a bladesmith, but it seems a good theory. For the definitive answer, as in the Makers/Around the Grinder forum.

Or is it a blade that has the shank/tang drawn to a lower RC to increase toughness? That would reduce the risk of the blade breaking at the tang junction.
