What is AKTI?

AKTI is the closest thing to the NRA that we have. They are our collective voice and deserve all the support we can give them. They have done a lot of good and continue to keep the pressure on bad knife legislation.

Like Ed said, the AKTI is as close as we in the knife community have to the NRA. In comparison they seem to have very little power, but do the best they can with the resources they have.

NRA does things largely by brute force. When you've got millions of members, billions of dollars, the ears of many national leaders, and instant access to all the national media, you can do that.

AKTI is a much smaller, poorer, less influencial, and less well-known organization. So, they have to do things a bit differently.

If the NRA wants a certain legislator to vote a certain way on a certain bill, they waltz into his office and drop off a six-figure "contribution" check.

If the AKTI wants a certain legislator to vote a certain way on a certain bill, they actually have to sit down with him and, using facts and sound reasoning, convince him that it's the right thing to do.

And AKTI has amassed an impressive track record in doing so.
