in my opinion this is far from abuse:)
I think that it is normal treatment for this knife (obwiously if you don't have an axe and use sth else for battoning it thru wood)
its made of M2 6mm at the spine (little under 1/4") fyll flat grind with conwexed edge
 
I didn't mean any offense by calling that abuse. I thought the axe head was hitting the spine of the knife, but I realize now that you must've been hitting the spine with the handle. Sorry! I thought you were doing an over the top demo on toughness...all of those knife destruction videos must be getting to me. :o

and yes yes yes, it was axe head hitting the spine, not the handle
what I mean is that this kind of treatment is nothin wrong to go with it
and well made knife should handle it with any damage
 
Try splitting logs that cleanly any other way. If you made that seriously amazing work, that is incredible strength.
