Any tips on what type of Lacquer Sealer & Polyurethane Brands, type
(Oil or Water) Minwax or what? Something to seal the wood and then coat it, can clear Polyurethane be buffed to a shine? Woods like cocobolo & maple?

Thanks!

not sure on maple but ii know what i do for cocobolo is a little tung oil and buff it it is such an oily wood that if you hand sand it to a nice high grit you can buff it and man does it look nice

I have never stabilized or coated cocobola. I sand it to 400+ and buff well. It shines nicely.

agreed, on woods like cocobolo, even wenge, its not necessary to add much to the finish other than some handwork.
mineral oil, tung oil, etc will all work.
one trick to rub up a nice shine is to quickly rub another rounded scrap of wood against the handle/scale.

no need to apply a finish to cocobolo!

Just sand to 400/600 grit and hit it with some wax on the buffer (or buff it "shoe shine" style.

Fow the little I know, and what a lot of people told me, cocobolo is one of those "oily" woods that doesn't need and can't be sealed.
The best finish is just a little wax or wood finishing oil and a buff.
BTW, be careful, as cocobolo (like many exotic woods) is actually poisonous.

Cocobolo and maple are so different and far apart. Cocobolo doesn't really need much finishing which is one of the reasons why I like it so much. Maple, IMO, is so delicate and difficult to finish that I gave up on it. The only maple I'll use is if it's stabilized.
