What is bigger than a Leek?

I like Kershaw Leek but want a bigger blade like 3.5 - 3.9 inches. Is there such a thing as a knife with rapid opening either A/O or manual, with a fairly slim profile like the Leek? Price under 100.00

I think the Kershaw Blur meets those specs. Have you looked at it? I think you can get it with S30V for under $100.

Look at the Kershaw Shallot, very similar to the Leek, more like its big brother actually.

Kershaw Shallot. Beautiful knife. All metal, very flat, AO only, no studs, no opening hole, just the short flipper.

What Esav said. The Leek is a classic, the Shallot a little bigger and even better. The Shallot is an all-time favorite of mine, hands down, always will be.

Also, for such a slender, sleek and elegant knife, the Shallot's SS framelock is BEEFY.

And a dead-sexy blade profile as well.

Best,

Heekma

Oops. Forgot about the Shallot. I was thinking about the little brother - Chive.

The Kershaw Speedform looks like a giant leek in my eyes. I have one and while not assisted opening, it flies open just fine.

If you are thinking of a similar blade shape the Benchmade 10700 Nagara might be up your alley. Although many, myself included, regard it as a bit of a gentlemens folder. It's a manual knife that flicks out like an auto. Blade steel is not that great, but it's easy to touch up.

Blade Length is a bit short at 3.25" from what you're looking for.

edit: Sorry, didn't read well and missed the "slim" part

Definitely the Shallot. If you can find an S110V version or a Composite Blade ZDP-189 version then you should definitely snap it up.

+1 on the Shallot. The Shallot is very much a leek-on-steroids in some ways. Major difference imho is the recurve, but has the same speedsafe, flipper, stainless handles, and nice looking design.

These are all great ideas guys. I appreciate the input. I didn't know about the BM and I was confused about the Shallot thinking it was smaller than the Leek.

Is this knife hard to find? Tried to find it on eBay but no luck.

Kershaw Avalanche it is now discontinued but they are still around. Last year made 2009. The early ones came with 440v/s60v blades. The later ones are s30v.

The Shallot is also a great knife very slim and lite for its size.

If you shop around you should be able to buy both for under $100.

+1 for Shallot,no doubt.
Mine is the all-black version,1840CKT,made in USA.
Got it from Kershawguy, here on Blade.
$50,IIRC.
Scary fast;scary sharp.

If you want a really nice 3.76" clip point .125" S30V AO blade in a Ti framelock, consider the new this year Benchmade 790 Subrosa. It aint cheap - probably a good price for the $240 MSRP knife will still be nearly twice the price limit you set. Still, what a knife! Love mine - my only negative is the very AO that you'll love! Another choice in that price range - from Kershawguy here - is the ZT-300/301/302 series - a big and beautifully made Kershaw. Of course, the S30V Blur is no slouch, either. I have one of each - and really like them.

Now, if you want a real deal, get the blemished JYDII in SG2 and Ti - a super knife now only available, if he still has them, from K-guy - and within your budjet. I have bought that - and a ZT-301 - from him in the last four months or so - super fellow. The JYDII is flipper deployed - not-AO - but, with little practice, can be as fast. My BM 790 Subrosa is frighteningly fast.
