Are all Busse Knives combat grade or just some of them? Like the current Tank Buster, are there non combat grade versions? What does combat grade mean...thicker steel or something? Sorry for the n00b questions.

There are usually two versions of the same model... The LE (Limited Edition), which is typically satin finished, with Tigerhide micarta. LE's are only offered once, and they are numbered.

The CG (Combat Grade) is typically a standard coated version with upgrade options on both handles and blade coating colors and sometimes double cut (bead blasted) and satin finishes. The Tank Buster is the first model to have 2 different LE versions, I believe, and the CG version has MANY more different options than usual.

Sometimes the LE & the CG versions are different thicknesses (not in the case of the Tank Buster, the CG & LE versions are both the same), and although the LE version is usually the thicker version, this is not always the case. The ASH-1 CG is thicker than the LE version, for instance.

Both knives are made of the same high quality INFI steel, and both are made to be used, and used hard. Both are covered under the Busse warranty.

I think the CG is .25 and the LE is .22. Small difference but there you go. ;)

CG's are typically for beating, but some do just safe-queen them. As opposed to LE's which are for beating, but some do just safe-queen them.

All are of similar quality, the difference is in the degree of finish. The combat grade knives are the basic finish, most affordable (with the exception of the unfinished competition grade knives). They typically look rough and sometimes have milling marks left over underneath the coating. Thickness varies by model and production run, sometimes the LE's will be thicker than the CG's, and sometimes the CG's will be the thickest. There are also special runs of extra thick or thinner blades from time to time.
