I respect this forum and the people that make it happen, so please accept this as an honest question. I totally support the banning of political and religious discussion in the knife forums, but where is the line drawn? Is discussing a knife’s country of origin and why one would prefer one country over another considered political? I think most of us want to follow the rules but there is some confusion(at least on my part) as to what is considered political discussion.

It is a blury line, and my rule of thumb is that if I am not sure it is best to re word the post.
In your example if you are avoiding te country because of political feelings it is political. If you think they make (in general) poor qulity knives it is ok IMO to discuss that. However the thread could easily go over to politics and get closed. Best to just talk about the knife and it's qualities or faults.

Cool, but what is considered “political feelings? As someone in another thread asked - are human rights political?

Sounds like part of the propganda lexicon to me. Yes, these days everything is political.

I would say yes.
Best to just discuss knives(outside the political forum) and not put the emphisis on the country.

My intention is not to spread propaganda - I’m just asking questions. I’m content to discuss nothing but the physical characteristics of a knife if that is all that is allowed.
I guess I’m just looking for some clarification of the rule.

As Justice Potter Stewart famously said: "I know it when I see it."

It's a knife forum, fellas. And it even has a political sub-forum. Take advantage of it when you wish to opine on such matters.

Otherwise, avoid politics. It will keep your fellow members from reporting posts, and keep us from wasting time tracking them down, and making yet another admonition to "cut that stuff out or else".

We don't get paid for this time suck. Hell, nobody even sends us beer, bourbon or single malt. (Or strippers.) ;)

Discuss the knives so we can all watch a hockey game in peace.

Well who in the hell could argue with Justice Potter Stewart?

Oops, was that political?😁

Tell me where to ship the bourbon. Thanks for your work.

Send it to Spark. He can probably use it more than most of us. (I have plenty on hand.)
