What is Double Cut?

I feel like the only person here who doesn't know what Double Cut is. I did a quick search, but didn't find the answer in 2.5 minutes, so... What is it?

I'm getting a bit caught up in the Boss Jack excitement and see that it is an option. Is it worth the + $60?

IMO it's not worth it. It'll rust before a satin finish will. If you want good looks and function the LE is worth the price, it sports a nice sabre grind, convex edge, satin finish and is thinner.

It is a nice matte finish but like GregS said, satin is far superior for a user. Including ghetto satin which is a previously coated blade that's been stripped. If you're just going to look at it, then DC looks really good.

A lot of users like the double cut finish.

It is simply a bead blast, done twice with different blasting medium.

It is pretty scuff resistant, and is very easy to touch up if you have access to a bead blaster.

Everyone has told you how it is done via bead-blasting which is the quickest response and most common response. What it really is is a dull or flat gray smooth and non-reflective bare metal finish and the easiest way to get from CG to satin with a scotchbrite wheel on a grinder. A doublecut CG gives you the advantage of having the decarb layer removed that you would find under the coating of a blade you stripped on your own. In other words, it is worth it if you want a CG without a coating that isn't offered with a satin option. ;)

The BOSS Jack proto in the middle of this pic is double cut. The SAR 6 is shiny (but dirty from use) satin. Notice how the camera flash doesn't really reflect that much.

DC is my favorite finish. Shows the least use scars, is not shiny and cleans up well.

I have a blast cabinet with fine grit aluminum oxide in it, any ideas on what that would do to a coated infi finish.
