Does it mean that it's double edged? Does anyone have a picture of a double cut busse? Thanks. How long is the wait time for a new busse from their website?

Another term for "double cut" would be "twice bead blasted" using 2 types of blasting medium for a smooth non-reflective bare metal surface. It does not mean "double edged".

The knife in thiese pix below is a fine example of BUSSE Double cut finish. :)

What is that Jaxx is that some type of steel heart variant? It almost looks like a FBM of some type but doesnt seem quite long enough for some reason. Maybe I am simply hallucinating...

You're on it. It's a one of... 8?? ...FSH-v clip point. This one is the only sterile one of the bunch. :D I chased this Grail for years!

I believe this is in reference to something Jerry posted on the home forum, it's the closest thing I could find to a direct explanation from the shop.

Welcome to the forum Jdunks!

Sounds like you are well on your way down the slippery slope of INFI addiction. I see you've also been bitten by the Rats in our sty. :D ;)

Regarding your MS, it certainly sounds like a double cut bead blast. The DCBB starts with a satin finish that is blasted twice, first with a fine silica media and then with glass beads to peen the surface and seal it.
Here's what Jerry posted on the Busse forum ---
"We blast each blade twice using two different types of blasting media in order to get the Double Cut finish. It's a pretty cool finish. . . .

Jerry "
And here's what a fellow Hog had to say about it on the Busse forum ---
"The double cut is also sort of a hand finished finish. Two medias are used in a blasting cabinet to first "cut" the steel surface and make it all pretty and matte like and then another media is used to smooth out results of the first media. (On a microscopic level, the first media tears open the steel surface and the second smoothes things out.)
[Strabs]"

If you can post a pic, please do. We always love to see INFI porn.

The thought process was to make DC finishes to be more resistant than satin finishes. When they blast it with a coarse media it opens pores if you will and the fine media seals those pores to try and prevent staining/rusting.

I could be wrong but as I have worked for several years with sandblasting I am pretty confident this was the intent.

I'm getting ready to purchase a boss street with a coated blade. Would like to remove the coating and double cut it myself using my sand blaster. Any idea on what media to use for the 1st and 2nd blast?

Glass bead first and walnut or corn cob second would be my guess...

So is double cut actually more resistant to corrosion over a satin blade. I wouldn't think the purpose of double cut was for corrosion resistance, but to make the blade more low profile IMO, and it looks cool. I'm curious because I ordered mean street 20th anniversary in double cut, I didn't want to deal with a coating on a smaller blade (and the satin blade isn't available to order yet).

It is not more resistant to corrosion because the surface is actually made of thousands of tiny craters created by the bead blasting. That being said. I've never ONCE had a problem with corrosion on my DC busses. I've used and abused them in southern GA woods drunkenly camping and left them damp overnight and they've been just fine. It's a great finish! I plan on getting it also for my mean street.
