Here is my latest spear point bowie. The blade is forged L-6 measuring 8" in length. Heat treated and double tempered to 58rc. It has a traditional sabre style grind, and the spine has my trademark ridge I grind on my bowies. The handle is made with the sexiest amber stag slabs I have seen in some time. (Gotta love STAG):p

Sterling silver shims separate the slabs, and is engraved with a roped edge. Domed pins secure them together. The guard is sculpted and heat colored with a gold inlaid border around the ricasso of the blade. The ferrule is lightly sculpted and inlaid with gold in a scalloped pattern. As well, the finial and pomel are heat colored with the pomel being file worked and gold inlaid in a radial fasion.

The knife is 13" overaland balances at the ferrule.

You've just got to love stag

I saw your (BIIIIG) sushi knives once and said, "If that's a sushi knife, I just have to see what else this guy turns out." My first impressions weren't wrong. Yow, this one is just one great big show of craftsmanship !! Congrats.

My guess would be that this is the knife in the other thread for which there is no picture. I wish the pictures were a little easier to make out, but this looks to be one of the nicest knives I have seen. Superb craftsmanship and stunning materials.

Another great looking blade and fantastic stag.:) I really like the way this one is put together.

Just beautiful, I mean everything about that knife is gorgeous: super-clean blade profile, oustanding stag handle and fittings. Great knife!

Typical awesomeness from Bailey. I wanna see a brighter, clearer picture of this knife!

Great, great piece. I'd love to see a pic of the spine ridge, please...

Is that for sale? Or just for tease? ;)

WOW, this is sooooo beautiful... Guys, I am sure that if you want a similar Bowie, Mr. Bradshaw would be happy to make you one, but to resort to silly hand signs ???? Boys, will be Boys....Again Mr. Bradshaw, beautiful work :)

Bailey,
Nice knife!

Too bad it is 13" overall.

I was hoping it had a 13" BLADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the biggest bowie you have made?

Elizabeth, that was meant to be a joke. You know, giving a guy a bit of a ribbing for being such a lucky dog. Sorry if it seemed rude, that was not how it was intended.

Anthony,

As best I can recall, the largest BOWIE I have made is about 10". I have made several hunting swords measuring 15"-17" blade lengths. (It's coming Sam) I have also done several wakizashi measuring about the same. The longest blade I have forged to date is my very own katana. 33" from the habaki to kissaki (tip).

Ok Ok, I know the suspense is killing you.:p It is 600 layers of 1084 and 15n20 with a mild steel core. A shallow curve with very robust width of blade. I did the traditional clay temper and water quench. The hamon is midare, and quite bold. The fittings are rust blued mild steel with 24k gold inlay. Traditional silk wrap with rayskin underneath. The saya or sheath is figured mahogany. I tortured some green bamboo last weekend with it. ( I am just a little proud of it)

You took the words right out of my mouth Keith - sounds like we ought to send Murray or Coop to Bailey's place right away for some photographic recon. Glad I didn't read Bailey's description of that sword until this morning or I would have been dreaming about it all night. My wife thinks it's weird when I dream about knives and such...

Cheers,

Roger

AHHHHH Keith, I was just playing around with you, I really knew that you were just funning with Bailey, thought I would do the same with you, I never think the worst of fellow knife lovers but,you are so sweet to worry that I might have been offended :D ;)
Have a wonderful weekend

I think you are a MOST amazing knifemaker...........!!!!!!!
