Just reading my new Blade issue and an ABS article on Tim Fosters master stamp knife says the blade is gold washed. Can some one tell me what that is?

Tracy,
Here's a quote from a jewelry site:
"Electroplated jewelry items carrying at least 7 millionths of an inch (0.18 micrometers) of gold on significant surfaces may be labeled "electroplate." Plated thicknesses less than this may be marked "gold flashed" or "gold washed."
Regards,
Greg

Tracy do you have a link to the jewlwey site you
mentioned in your post, and other jewlery forums?
Thanks Gib

Electroplating makes sense in the context of the article. I'd sure like to see that knife. Thanks for the answer.
