What is it in a knife that would make it a deal breaker for you?

What would keep you from buying a knife? (aside from overall poor quality and build)

I've come to find myself hating any knife with a re-curve blade because of how difficult it is to sharpen them, so re-curves blades are a deal breaker for me.

materials, shape, pocket clip, over 6 oz, and it must be made in the USA. no exceptions

example. i would never buy a regular manix 2. the sprint runs however are one of my favourite knives of all time! FFG> hollow grind, better g10, skeltionized liners, good steels (154 cm is not bad i just like harder). all of that stuff is a huge deal to me

Deal breakers for me are price and quality and unfortunately there is a fine line one must walk to even out the two and end up with both in a knife.

Sub par blade steel for me, I'm not talking about simpler steels but ill heat treated otherwise perfectly fine steel I believe that if a company is not sufficient enough to do the job they should pony up and outsource it to a company that can do the job and as an end result provide the consumer with properly heat treated blade steel at a decent price.

Ive got a lot of knives now, so Ive learned to be more picky.

I wont buy a knife...

that isn't made in the USA
with a coated blade (on a folder)
with black handles (make the occasional exception)
with serrated or combo edge blade
tip down only carry
liner locks
re-curve
hollow grind

deal-breakers:
1. high price (if you can't afford it, it doesn't matter how much you want/like it).
2. serrations (don't like)
3. cheap blade steel (440A, etc.)
4. handle material (don't like black and most plastics)
5. china (this a political thing, since there are some well-made blades contracted out overseas)

If it's not made in the United States of America, I don't want it. Oh and I HATE serrations.

any country of origin other than my home (US)
at this point in my life, any price above $100
serrations

Deal Breakers?

1. Tip-up only pocket carry.
2. Unsatisfactory fit and finish for price level.
3. Blade steel less than AUS-8A.
4. Recurves.
5. Stainless steel handles.
6. Assisted opening knives (illegal here).
7. Any folder without thumb studs or nail nicks.
