What Is It? The Spyker

Is it a Spyderco or a Kershaw or an Onion. All I know at this point is that it is a collaboration between the above mentioned three. What ever it is, it is beautiful. When I first saw it tonight at my local knife shop, I knew it was coming home with me. Finally, a Spyderco/Kershaw I can really love. Easy pocket carry as it is quite light weight. And the two-tone G10 scales (I assume it is G10. Could it be CF?) are a touch of "custom". At at only 3000 examples manufactured, not a knife one will see on every street corner or in every pocket. Great knife!! Let's see more of these collaborations.

Most of the folks on here seem to not like the Spyker but I for one love mine the blade shape is very useful the light weight is great for shorts weather as well as EDC. Maybe its just me but its the sharpest Spyderco I ever cut myself with. It seems to be a tradition with me, somehow I always manage to cut myself within the first couple of days of carry. Strangely the knives I have never been cut by usually get lost or more commonly broken. Anyway enjoy your Spyker its a gem.

Personally, I think this is one of the best Spyderco knives I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Everyone I have shown it to today is mightly impressed. And since I am a fan of Ken Onion, I think this collaboration is definitely #1. I can understand some folks avoidance since it is not the usual Spyderco style, but I feel this one really shows the abilities of two companies and two designers and what can be accomplished when they all work together. Besides that, CPM S30V absolutely rocks!!

You are right! It's G10 plus white Carbon Fibre :) ... but the label on the blade is :grumpy:

I agree. The labeling could and should have been more discreet. A bit "over the top"
Funny thing is owners almost always post a picture of the "offending" side. The one picture of the other side, really shows off the knife! Makes me want to get one while I still can.

Liked the Spyker so much that I traded off a Spyder that I valued very much to a brother here on the Forum to get a used one. There was no way I could break down and use the new one I got. The used one I got is really fascinating. I have already learned a couple of good methods for sharpening the recurve blade. It is the very first recurve that caught me eye to the point to where I actually wanted a user.

This was an excellent collaboration. And keep in mind that I am not a Kershaw fan but I now am taking a closer look at their designs. But this collaboration really and truly brings out the best of both companies. The quality is superb. I will undoubtedly be carrying my newly aquired used Spyker before too long.

I agree. How hard would it be to remove that blemish with some sandpaper?

Is that clip removeable? I really like the Onion designs, but have been steering clear of AO. If that clip comes off, I might not be able to resist anymore.

I agree with some of the other post. This knife just feels good, cuts good, looks good. And it is not crazy expensive either like some of the limited production models are. I like it's style and logo. It was made to be "flashy" and I think it succeeds very well. The design is swoopy and I like the three holes. Any size hand should be able to open it with the three different sized holes.

It is definately not your basic black Delica.

I believe it is gel-coated Silver Twill G10, inlayed into Spyderco's custom peel-ply G10.

This is, what Spyderco says on their homepage:
Precision-machined G-10 handles are inlayed with silver carbon-fiber twill and assembled with an adjustable pivot pin and phosphor bronze bushings.

I would want one if it didnt have the stupid crap on the blade. One of those things that just makes you wonder what the hell they were thinking.:barf:

I actually quite like it, but I'm just not a big fan of liner locks. I actually know from my real life experience that a good one is trustworthy, but I think I've been brainwashed from hearing so much bad press. In any case, a nice guy in the general forum posted these pics of the Spyker and I thought they were neat comparisons.
