What is it ,When was it, Where is it now ?

It's Spyderco's version of a traditional French Laguiole knife (pronounced la-yole or lay-ole). It's been out of production for a few years. Here's a good thread about Spyderco's Laguiole from last November: www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum20/HTML/001639.html

I think that Ferret recently bought a couple, so you might want to ask him about the price and quality of these knives. The current bid on eBay looks very low.

Worryingly low if you ask me, but its early days yet and there's no mention of the beautiful contoured sheath I got with mine. It is good to see a decent photo of this knife, though, so people can appreciate the quality of the thing. If you do a search thru the archived section you'll find out more, incl. an offer to sell one for $150.

Actually, its a crap photo, will take some photos myself etc stand by for visual delights

OK, here goes...for reasons too convoluted to go into here (nothing bad, just the weird workings of the Spyder afflicted mind

), I've decided not to be greedy and to release the weak grip on the Laguiole that Patti at Ironstone was holding for me...an excellent plainedge version with sheath, go get it!!
