What is it with me and cookies?

I just realized I screwed up yet another batch of cookies! I've screwed up the last 5 batches of cookies I've made and had to do them over!

I realized during the heat treat that Oatmeal Raisin cookies aren't supposed to be 1/2 inch thick and 2 inches across! I looked back and found my mistake...3 cups of flour! Recipie called for 1 cup of flour and 3 cups of oatmeal!

My brain is addled, my eyesight not so good and apparently I can't follow directions...good thing is the crew at work will eat anything! :barf: -Matt-

No kidding! Ha! I do the majority of the cooking at my house, and I have found aver the years that you can take a lot of liberties with things...add more of this and less of that and still have it turn out. My wife assured me that there is a huge difference between "cooking" and "baking", and that an accident in reading the recipie will assure failure. I like to cook on the fly and improvise as I go, to me a recipie is a loose guideline and do lots of my cooking from memory. I told my mother about this fiasco and she said to slow down and check the recipie more carefully. Cut once, measure twice comes to mind -Matt-
