I have quite a few interesting items around the house that I'm not 100% sure what they are, so I'll try and bring them here and let you guys help me decide what they exactly are :)

Recently picked these up at work. My best guess is that they go to a boiler of some sort (starting temp is at 125F with a max of 500F). Any better educated guesses than mine??

Used in everything from commercial boilers to the food and chemical industries, nowadays you're more likely to find thermocouples and infared noncontact thermometers.

I agree with T. Erdelyi. As a former instrument mechanic I worked with a lot of temperature measuring devices and yours appear very old. Nowadays thermocouples and RTDs (resistance temperature detectors) which transmit their signals to computer rooms are most commonly used.

RTDs, that was the one I couldn't remember, outta the semiconductor biz for 10 years and ya forget a lot.

H. O. Therice is still in business and still make some very similar products (their current BX series looks all but identical to what you have). If you e-mailed them the pictures, they might be able to give you some information.

I am having a hard time finding any use for these around the farm. I dont have a boiler and electric water heaters dont get anywhere near the max temperatures listed. Would it be good to try and sell them? I dont know how old they are so I cant be 100% positive on their reliability.

Oh, they'll sell well as kitsch. That sort of "steam punk" looking stuff is popular.

Functionally, I doubt that there is much market for them as they would have to undergo recalibration and probably end up costing not much less than a new one.
