If someone wanted to carry a small edc what would be legal in nj? does blade size, type of knife, concealed or not etc. come into play?

I would imagine the laws in NJ would be similar to NYC. For the most part it seems that NYC does not want anyone to carry a knife! One line I read in the state code said "if it looks like a weapon it is" As far as I understand, based on what others have written in my thread below, I would say for legal knife carry...1. Blade length must be under 4" (3" or smaller probably better) 2. It can not have any sort of lock or it can be considered a gravity knife, therefore making it illegal. (I would say this eliminates at least 95% of EDC folders, because most of them have a lock of some sort, sorry your Dad's buck 110 even fits into this category) 3. Must be fully concealed, when not in use of course, and clipped on the pocket is not concealed carry. 4. Cannot carry for self defense, so if asked you carry for utility purposes/for work/food prep/etc., but not SD....So what knives fall into the legal carry arena for the "everday Joe"..small slipjoint folders, and maybe small fixed blades. But upset the wrong LEO and he/she can take you in for any blade. That's the law as I understand it, and I stress that I am not a lawyer, and this is for informational purposes only. On the other hand, does every person who is caught with a locking folder get arrested and go to jail? I would say probably not, BUT THERE IS A CHANCE.
