I have had this knife for a long time. I got it from my sister. And it was her son's knife. I just decided to get it out of the rag it was wrapped in and give it to my son or sell it. I am
not asking for a value. I think that is another post. I am what you call elderly so I may not be too sharp on my posting and pictures. I am grateful for any comments by the membership. I saw how to post pictures but can't figure it out. The pictures I have are on an external storage that plug into the side of my laptop. Can someone help with the posting?

You need to upload the picture to a picture sharing site (imgur, freeimage, etc etc). You will then be able to copy the url of the image and insert that using the little 'picture frame' icon above the text box. It will offer you a choice between ulpoad image or link a url (the little chain icon). Select the link option and paste the image url into the box and upload it.

Welcome to Bladeforums floppybarrel.

When you ask "what is on the blade?", are you referring to some specific characteristic of the blade itself, or are you referring to some kind of corrosion, discoloration, or other foreign material?

If it's a characteristic of the blade, someone should be able to identify it without a picture if you can provide a good description. If it's corrosion, etc, I'd suggest wiping it with a rag and some WD40.

If you have a Buckmaster with the black coating, and you're asking what the coating is, it's black oxide. If you have a "grey" Buckmaster, the finish is what's called "bead blasted", sort of like sand blasted, but with little glass or steel beads instead of sand, which produces a non-glare type of finish.

Mr. Killgar, If you are trying to intimidate me with your knowledge of knifemaking, you have accomplished that! But my lack of knowledge on the subject
should not be a reason for you to act like an ass. I am doing my best; I hope you and others will give me a chance. All I ask is for the good folks to share their
knowledge with me. As I said in a previous post. If I am unable to post pictures, I will leave this forum.

With what Killar said I feel you have over reacted. It appears he was genuinely trying to help you with good input. I don't think he was being an ass.

Posting pictures is not that hard.....

Killgar is not "acting like an ass" nor "intimidating". Everything he said is absolutely correct in the face of your inability to post a photo or even give an accurate description so that others can understand exactly what you are talking about.

Welcome!!! Take a deep breath and revisit this after a break......People only want to help.......
Maybe have another member of your family help you translate what Killgar said so you can get it figured out...
Two heads are better than one........I still can't post pics that way😜......

As said above, an apology is in order.......Good luck...... If you choose to stay!

I've noticed this instruction many times now...why so complicated? You've already copied the URL, so all you have to do is hit Ctrl-V (in Windows, other OS's may vary) where you want the image inserted and you're done.

Well that escalated quickly!

Some folks DO seem to wear their hearts: a bit too close to their hides...

But when I first joined as a "Basic": I couldn't figure out the picture thing either.
So I understand his frustration. It was just easier to upgrade, and make everything easier...
