I recently got started in the budget world of watch collecting! Nothing too crazy for now, as I set my hard limit to $200, usually less than that even. It’s every bit as deep of a rabbit hole as the world of knives. One of the intriguing themes I learned just this year was the land, sea, and air collection. Basically means having a racing or field-type watch (land), a diving watch (sea), and an aviation watch (air). Some guys add a dress-type watch to the mix for formal occasions. I never really paid attention to watch archetypes before so I found all this quite interesting.
It made me think if this is a thing in the enthusiast cutlery world as well. Translating this literally, I suppose this would entail a woods knife (land), a diving knife made of LC200N or H1 steel (sea), and a pilot’s knife along the lines of the BK10 I suppose (air). If we were just to retain the theme of “having a knife for every need,” I think we can also use a field-formal-food approach.
Do you guys have a land-sea-air trio in your collection?
