What is selfsharpen scissors?

My hairdresser said that her scissors is 8 years old and nobody ever sharpened it.
It sharpens itself when it cut hairs. Just cannot imagine how it is work? Can somebody help? Thank you.

I don't know but it is works anything like my 'self cleaning oven' it must be crap. Seriously I've heard of this before from some other threads. The old Wenger scissors on the Swiss Army knives were similar because they had little tiny teeth on them (basically serrated edges) and I've never had to sharpen or mess with them in over 14 years of carry and use. I used them just last week to cut up yet another credit card that had expired. One of countless. I usually like Victorinox over the Wenger but when it comes to the scissors the Wenger wins out in my book.

Hair sissors need to be sharpened just like any others, how often depends on the frequency of use and the quality of the steel, ref:

If I had to guess, I'd say she's been cutting hair with dull scissors for a while and doesn't even realize it.
