What is Spyderco's take on the Large Sebenza 21 design? Others?

This may seem like a ridiculous question, but the CRK Sebenza 21 is an oft copied, often imitated, never duplicated knife that has drawn such a large fanbase that other companies have come out with their own similarly designed knives over the years. I'm not using the word "copied" because they all have their own take on the Titanium Frame lock and medium to large folder with drop point/sheeps foot blade design. While I know they are not the same and nothing can replace a real CRK Sebenza, the two examples I have encountered that illustrate this point are the Bradley Alias and the Benchmade 761. So I am curious, what is Spyderco's take on this design, and are there others out there attempting to unseat the king from his throne?

The Spyderco Sage line highlights important locks and their creators.
The Sage 2 would pay homage to Chris Reeve's integral lock design. It's a titanium frame lock with great Spyderco ergos.

I don't think there's anyone out there that geniunely thinks they can make a "Sebenza Killer" these days. That said, Spyderco does make some mighty fine all-Ti framelocks, like the Slysz bowie and Farid K2 (very large). Some other all-Ti folders that come in below the Sebenza price point include the TSF Beast, Grayman Satu, and ZT 0801 (flipper), but none of them really try to fill the same niche as a Sebenza. I interpret that niche to be a classy but very sturdy gentleman's folder, directed primarily at fine slicing, with an emphasis on F&F above materials or competitive pricing.

Well put! Those were the words I was looking for.

The Spyderco titanium Military is IMO, a fantastic knife. It's a ti frame lock, in a better steel, run a tick harder. Spyderco's S30V is better than CRK's S35VN. It's run harder, a common complaint about CRK's steels, and the Spyderco ht is always top shelf.

I don't think there is "a take on" this topic. Sal has stated his opinion, I don't have time to search what he wrote, but it's in the Spyderco forum. To put it simply, there are specific target groups, or "markets" that some makers are very popular with. The one this both companies have in common is that they make knives, that is a good start but beyond that not sure what else you could be looking to find,

Slysz Bowie is an extremely refined, smooth and high-quality folder. It's in between a small and large Sebenza. Personally, best Slyderco folder to date. Under $300.

I got my answer, from Spyderco it's the Slysz Bowie, and quite a few other interesting knives in the same "genre" were listed as well. None would I buy in place of a Sebenza, personally, but I enjoy looking at them.
