What is that stuff on the tangs of my CRK&T M16's..??

Hey folks, that rough stuff on the liner lock/tang meet looks like some kind of tungsten carbide? Is it, i notice that the lock is sticky due to this-thats a good thing, and also, i must have flicked my M16-04/plain edge large tanto about a good 200-300 times, and there is no wear, does that rough tang contribute to this lack of wearing. I tell ya, what ever that stuff is, i wish everyone would use it. GET YOURSELF SOME M16'S-i'm getting two more within the next two weeks, yippee!!
