What is the actual weight of your BOB?

I'd like to know if anyone has actually weighed their bug out bags? Not an estimate or rule of thumb, but actually put it on a scale. How many pounds or kilos?

Fully loaded - water, food, clothing, first aid kits, whatever ......

Then I'd like to know what ratio of BOB weight to body weight people are seeing.

I actually have three bags. One that I just put together will go with me on day hikes and days afield with the bow. It's a finnish gas mask shoulder bag and with water it weighs in at 7#.

My 2nd car BOB is a 600ci E. German patrol pack, a US canteen and an E. German belt pouch and total weight is 14#.

My grab on the go bag is the bag pictured in my avatar image. It's a German Mtn. Ranger ruck that's between 1650-1700ci and total weight of the pack is 28#.

Forgot to add that my weight is 205#

As I mentioned in the other BO thread, I want my BOB to be light so I can climb those hills fast.

The summer version, fully loaded, with gun, ammo, shelter system, water, survival gear and a little food (hunting and gathering is an option for me), it's only 21 pounds. I'm 247 pounds (8-9% bodyfat) on an almost 6'4" frame, so that's less than 1/10th of my bodyweight. I do feel a difference when it's on my back, but it's not a real handicap. I can run with it. I can climb with it. I can ride a bike with it, and or course I can hike with it for days if I have to.

For winter, I add some more calorie-rich food (fat can't be dehydrated) and a down sleeping bag. That makes it 3-4 pounds heavier, still around 1/10th of my weight.

Mine weighs in at 45# with water and ammo if I'm packing my .308, about 27# without water or bullets. I like plenty of water and ammo.

lol... i carry a semi BOB, just the essentials for getting you what you need, not actually what you need. jacket, good knife/prybar, fire kit, good clothing, sewing kit, and a few other brickabrack. however, my clothes+boots+bag+knife come out to around 30lbs, even though there isnt much in it...

my boots are 4lbs, my jacket 10lbs, and my new pants (i dont have any others anymore) weigh about 4lbs with all the hear on my belt...

Bug out pack weighs in at 74 pounds with food and water for two and ammo for the 45acp milspec Sistema Colt and .308 on stripper clips in bandoliers for the m14/m1a. Lets see, 120 rds of 308 and 100 rds of 45acp, thats a lot of the load right there.

It has enough gear for two for several days and that includes a two man USGI pup with the poles and sleeping bag attached to the top of the ruck [ makes up a lot of the total weight as well but I want shelter with me at all times and not worry about making field expedients].

Like Robert H, I like plenty of water and ammo.

I'm 5'10" and at the moment a heavy 188lbs. [ long winter in the NE ].
I'll get down to 170 by June
