what is the best corrosion resistant SS

Titanium, Stellite & Talonite in no particular order. (all are alloys)

If you need no magnetic signature go with Titanium, otherwise Talonite or Stellite will make a better knife.

Spyderco's H1 seems to be quite a wonder steel, so far i couldn't get it to rust (& i tried!).
it also sharpens realy quick, takes a wicked edge & holds it good (even great on the SE model).
it's greatest advantage over Stellite & Talonite is the price tag.

H-1

(I have to add a few more words here because the line above was too short to be posted, even though I don't have any more to say :D)

For knives use any of the above mentioned alloys but if you just want a good stainless steel a 300 series or 400 series would work.

I must say I have put my Spyderco Atlantic Salt to the Test and the H-1 on it has truely met my expectations as far as corrission resistance.

I don't think it's correct to call these "steels". AFAIK steel is basically a mixture of carbon and iron (and other things, like chromium, copper, vanadium, nitrogen aso., but those are just "spices").
These said, I also vote for H1.

If you had asked me this last year I'd have said one of the 400 series steels, probably 440C.

But today. H1 steel, without question.

That would be why I didn't call them steel.

The original post asked for Steels or Alloys that are rust resistant.

I've heard good stuff about H1 but have no experience with it. I've used Talonite extensively and someday would like to do a head to head comparison to see if it performs as well.

Talonite and stellite are also non-magnetic.

Yes, it's non-magnetic but it does have a magnetic signature and is not appropriate for uses that require no signature. Pretty much what I said in my first post.
