OK, I decided to throw down the big bucks with an upcoming bonus... I want to get the best hawk out there for the purpose of home defense, i.e. of tactical nature... could be used at home, in the sandbox, or deep into the woods.

Can I get some opinions and help from you guys with suggestions/opinions?

I have seen pics but never held the RMJ Talon and the NG ATC Hawk... there are a few out there and also some custom makers...

What would you spend up to $500- on and why? Please help!

Veritas... yeah, now I know I am! We will have to compare notes sometime on both our ATC hawks and Busse!!!

Cheers

THE BEST HAWK IS HEADING YOUR WAY NOW!!!!!!

Any further questions are now academic!!!!:footinmou

LOL, thanks Big-T! I am glad you guys liked my idea.... it was really a culmination of what I already had (ATC Vietnam Tac), and wanting something to look kind of primitive, i.e. wood handle, but with a more modern and crazy feel... which is when the camo stripes came in... I had wanted to get something from both RMJ and Robert of 2hawks fame, but have no patience. Now I have something special from a great company on the way... Friday should be a good day if the Brown truck guys make it on time.

This was not only a lot of fun in terms of thinking about it and coming up with the final product, but also enjoyable from a service standpoint... Justin really is a great guy to talk to.

The entire process included sending both pictures and sketches back and forth, but it didn't take long since Justin really understood the way I was thinking and was very generous with his time.

I would highly recommend the process... just spend some time thinking of how you could make something unique like that hammer hawk or think of how you could improve or just modify something already made...

Sorry getting longwinded here... but can ya blame me?!

Hi MC. That ATC custom is gonna be great! I saw the pic, I rally like the multi sharp edges. I want to see one of it with the curly maple when you get it. Justin is a great guy and ATC is top drawer all the way!

Thanks A, I will definitely post pics when I get her... should arrive Friday unless the post gets slowed down by all those flower deliveries I know you guys are making

LOL, I feel bad for the boor son-uva-bitch that tries to break into your home. Imagine loading up a stolen screen tv in your van when all of a sudden a guy with a tomahawk comes running after you LOL. I think id go and pee on myself.:D

Aniketos... yeah... that's the idea! Between my guns, my two hawks, my knives, and even a sword... all within reach... better bring some bandaids!

LOL! All you need now is a Cival war cannon all ready to go! Its like my friend who was joking about getting a automatic m16 for his home... Just imagine him making his walls look like swiss cheese as he shoots the predator. I dont have any real axe training, but I chop wood every year. Does that give me some skills?

Aniketos... yeah, strangely my father has a cannon! OK, it is small but does work... now you know where I get it from.

...UPS tracking has the hawk on its way to be delivered to me today... hope it comes before my company meeting (held in another building), otherwise I may miss it! That would make for a long weekend!

Thanks guys, and yes I do have some hawks coming up Vin. Bladegallery will have 2 52100 hawks in about a week or so. Price's will be $425 and $450. One has a Bocote haft and the other has a carved African Blackwood haft. And yes I will be doing many many more, I just can't seem to keep myself from making hawks, I think they have taken over my shop. Of course you can alway come directly to me and I should have something done in 3-4 weeks. I will make a confession though, I leave the NOTHING AVAILABLE on my web page because in the past year most things have gone rather quickly and updating my page takes me away from my shop. My goal is to get way ahead of the game and have at least one hawk available at all times, we'll have to see about that one though. I will be adding in very near furture a limited number of hawks in 1086M and I am currently working with some 51B60 and will be testing, hopefully in a week or so. If only there were 30 hours in a day.

Hey Lonnie,

Your tomahawks look fantastic. I like the hammer poll carbon blade hawk in particular. I will definitely be giving you a call in the coming months.

Thank you Sundsvall, I hope to have more pictures on my sight in the not to distant future.

I have handled quite a few hawks at shows and some of private collections...plus I have the critical eye of a bladesmith... and I have NEVER seen any hawks that compare to Lonnie's.

His style/design, fit and finish...overall quality...it isn't being touched by other makers. And then you look at the price. He's charging LESS than many makers doing hawks of much less quality.

Lonnie uses digitally controlled salts for heat-treating and is getting the most out of the steels that he can. I know he's performance minded and does a lot of testing. So...they're not just beautiful, they're balanced, functional, and rugged.

If I am going to recommend a smith for a hawk, it's Lonnie.
