Hey Hogs, I love my busse convex edged knives (SAR6/Boss Jack/Meaner Street/Boss Street/SAR3), etc.. Just love em! Love the hollow grinds too! Will get to those as well..

Most came with a great edge from the factory but to get it hair poppin sharp I have used a cheap barbers strop I got on eBay (with white/red compound). I bought this strop originally to get a polished edge on my folders after hitting them on the sharp maker. It's a 2 inch by 16 inch piece of leather but just not quality and I only have one side so I know it's contaminated with both compounds and it works, but I think there is much better out there, like one mounted on a wood piece with handles?

I am not happy with this strop, and I need nice a set up JUST for my busses. INFI has the best results from stropping I have ever had with my humble stropping/sharpening skills. I mean it's just amazing. Had almost every knife out there, you name it I've had it, in my search for the ultimate steel, and INFI is it! I've heard of people using compounds and some with diamond paste or metal polish, etc. I need some solid advice from you Busse Hogs how your set ups are for convex edge Busses if you can help me out?

Also, I would like to ask what do you Hogs use for your hollow ground busses? Is the Edge pro/wicked edge worth it? Sharpmaker? Stones? Would love to hear your methods of operation on this, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find what I was looking for thanks in advance for the help!

Lets start a death chat to bring back the Busse Air Bleeder Strop

I use a strip of leather scrap I bought from a saddlery nearby and I put buffing compound it (sometimes) which I picked up at a spray paint supply shop. Keeps all the blades as sharp as scalpels. I even strop the hollow ground knives. If the blades need a go on a stone, especially after heavy use, I use an EZE Lap diamond stone, then strop afterwards to polish the edge up a bit and remove the burr.

Thanks Rob, I used my crappy strop to touch up the hollow grinds, I guess any piece of leather can be a strop then?
And I have used Sharpening sticks when I used to help out at the family seafood business A while back but those were for thin, 14-16 inch knives used to chop/slice whole fish, the edges were constantly chipping from cutting through thick fish bone all day long, pounding with a rubber mallet to get through the thicker pieces, god it's been so long I didn't even think of using that for my shorter knives! The one I used left marks on the blade but they were all very hard working knives so I didn't care much, which model do you use?

David, I googled the air bleeder strop, why did they stop making it? I would buy a busse strop if they sold one!

I usually use a piece of saddle leather and mothers mag polish. puts a nice shine and a razor sharp edge on.

I guess any leather will work. Does for me anyway! :)

What do you mean by 'which model'?

Thanks guys! Demonic, the one with the handle was what I was looking for!

Garth, yes that is the diamond compound I have tried the crayon type and think there must be something better I will give the diamond ones a try!

Dave, I also have the mag polish at home will try that on a piece of Leather to see how it comes out, thanks all.
