We have had, "VOTE the No.1 rat in ur mind!!!" now I would like to see what everyone thinks is the best overall design.

To me, the No.1 rat implies what is the knife that you think 'defines' Swamp Rat Knife Words. The best design would be more of, which would be the knife you could find the fewest things about it you would change to make it 'perfect'.

Not having handled one yet I would vote for the Crash Rat. My only change would be a Rec C type grip, if such a thing were possible.

Argue, argue, struggle, strain........The RatManDu leaves them all in the dust!!! (Shhhh. Yes, Rat Daddy, you are a better chopper...now hush.)

Surprisingly... The M6!

Not too big, not too small... differentially hardened and tough!
Oh, and it fits any cheap, off the shelve 6inch SpecOps sheath like it was designed for it.

Old School RatWeiler, hands down. Never been another Swamp Rat knife that screamed Swamp Rat more than that one...

*sniff*

Brings a wee tear to me eye thinking about 'em...

:D

RATWEILER!
Although I do not have one, I do have two chopweilers and two RMD and one HRLM and one RAT Mastiff.
But I think the RATWEILER is to SwampRat what the FSH is to BUSSE.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I love my RatWeiler

Not to hijack my own thread... but what was the end result of the Dogfather that couldn't?

I would call it a very close race between the Ratweiler and the Chopweiler for my tastes. Right now the nod goes to the Chopweiler because that's what I got :D

For me it is the HRLM - no other comes close so far.

I liked the design of the two Thourot skinners but wasn't lucky enough to snag either. Maybe I'll luck into Trading for them someday.

I use my knives and I'm not a Chopper kind of user so I like to keep the size of my blades easily carryable (or maybe that should be portable). ;)

For me it's definately Camp Tramp. I never had a pleasure to own this knife, but I just love the looks of it. For me all Res-C handled rats looked the best. I really miss those Res-C rats :( I know - there are Scrap Yard knives, but that's just not the same...

I've got an old style Ratweiler, and a Ratmandu and think the world of them, but for me
the best design would have to be the Camp Tramp.
Now, if you want the knife that defines the Swamp, it would have to be the old style Ratweiler.

Cheers

I'm just wondering, but how so?
I have nothing against Scrap Yard knives. For me it's strictly personal. My real adventure with knives began with finding Swamp Rat Knives page, at that time I could not afford Camp Tramp so I ordered a Howler. Great blade. I always loved the feel of Res-C, and SR-101. Scrap Yards are fine blades, maybe even tougher, but for me they don't have the magic old Rats had...:)

The Camp Tramp is my go to blade...

Love my Howling Rat and it's cousin SS4...so you know I'm hooked on Res c too!
