What is the best tomahawk for throwing that's under $30?

I've thrown my dad's tomahawk a few times and I want to get one to throw myself, but keep it chheap until I'm good enough at throwing to buy a more expensive one. I was looking at a Cold Steel Spike Hawk, but I read that the handles on them are unfinished and the head is kept in place with a screw. Any suggestions?

Look at Track of the Wolf, not much over your budget. Pretty much any of them throw well enough for most people with practice. The handle on a dedicated throwing axe is disposable, so making it pretty is a waste of time. It will break at some point.

Or, if you like the cold steel, buy it and plug the screw hole. New handles are cheap, after you wear out/break the original.

Should be fine, just from looking. I have 2 just like the first one -- no idea where they came from as I bought them from a friend, who had traded for them 20 years ago, and so on. That would be my choice, but probably just habit. I will say the inverted head one looks strange to me!

Price seems in line with most stuff I've seen. I think tactical and bushcraft hawks may be more expensive due to other factors.

I like the first one, too. The inverted one does look strange, but I'm thinking it may be easier to stick? Looks like that tip would bury deep.

The first one looks like it would be a fine thrower. That said I have no experience with that company. Whichever you get post some pics when it arrives.
