I recently bought an old Sabre bowie on ebay as a project knife and this is my first time attempting something like this. I have taken off the old grips and wanted to replace them with stag and gonna reprofile the edge, maybe a convex if I can figure out how to do it on my stones. I was looking for advice on what the best way to attach the stag. The tang has pin holes in it but how would you go about putting the pins in or could i just use some really strong adhesive like liquid cement?

Glue, even epoxy, will eventually let go.
Drill the stag with holes that match the holes in the tang. Insert brass, steel, nickel silver, copper, etc., pins of the exact size. Leave about 1/16" sticking out on both sides, and place the end of the pin on an anvil, vise, etc. Gently tap all the way around the edge of the pin with a very small hammer. You only want to spread the head of the pin. Turn it over and do the same to the other side. Switch sides, tap, until scale is snug.
