What is the blade finish underneath the factory black coating?

I've got a black bladed Persian that has bad Emerson printing on it. It's very light printing, I understand there's a batch that went out like that. The black coating doesn't look like it was done very well either. If I send it back to Emerson can they strip that black coating and maybe stonewash it and reprint on the blade? Do they do that kind of thing?

Alternatively is there a custom option that I can go to to have that same thing done?

I'd call them directly. They may very well replace your blade - that was something that was being done with a known batch of "light" marked blades upon customer request. Of course some really prefer anomalies that don't detract from function.

Great advice OM, if they offered to replace it I would not complain, but I certainly wouldn't push the issue. As you said, it doesn't affect functionality.
