I have bought several of the Ken Onion design Kershaw's from Wally World lately. What's the skinny on them?

They are knives sold at one of the largest retailers on the planet. What's not to get?

Are they made to the same quality specs as other Kershaw's or are they "specifically" made for WalMart?

Just a store selling a knife, same as any website or gun shop or anything. Same quality because its the same knife.

Ok great... I was a little worried because sometimes in certain items WalMart carries products that are basically the "WalMart" product line which I would guess are kind of like the china made Schrade's. I get about 50-100 worth of WalMart gift cards a week at work for sales competitions I am just gonna keep buying them until I have enough to trade for a Hinderer/ZT colab... Thanks for the reassurances guys.

Find them on sale and save some money.

It's hard to beat Wallyworld when it comes to prices.

I don't like them.. I hate Clam packs...I like boxes...plus I like supporting Dave (kershawguy) and other great places like BladeHQ and GPKnives

Not entirely true. Walmart is notorious for the "walmart exclusives." Walmart sells several big name brand stuff that you wont find anywhere else. Some Goodyear tires are sold only at walmart and they stock an Abu Garcia fishing rod that can't even be found on AbuGarcias own website.

Around Christmas one year they offered the Kershaw Select fire, a knife I own, with a blue handle for ten bucks. A walmart exclusive. Now I am not saying it was less quality, but that blue Select Fire couldn't be found anywhere but walmart.

^ That select fire is still the same quality as the others, just blue. Currently Walmart doesnt sell any Kershaws that cant be found other places. I wont be suprised if they do a customer order with lower quality steels like amazon did at some point. If I didnt know kershaws as well as I do Id think they have the "walmart" Kershaw, there is a "walmart ripple" from CRKT. Walmart has an exclusive Colt AR that has plastic buttons, not an AR I'd want to buy.

Yeah I wasn't saying it was less quality. Just that walmart has the ability to get companies to cater to them in some ways.

Regarding what you said about Amazon and cheaper steels.. I ordered a Kershaw Zing from Dave and it has Scandvik or whatever steel (new to this so that may be the wrong word), and I was looking on amazon the other day and noticed they have the knife with the same steel as the one I ordered but also sell a version with the chinese steel. I am not familiar enough with Kershaw to know which knife is offered with what steel. Do they offer both steels or is that what you were referring to?

The steel you're thinking about is Sandvik's 14C28N. That's Kershaw's common steel that you'll find on their US products. The Zings that Dave is selling are the US produced models, that have been discontinued for the most part. They then released a stainless steel Zing, Chinese produced, in 2012. It's now a Speedsafe model as well, and made with 8Cr13Mov.

It's not a dealer specific model, just the current version being produced.

I checked this thread because the Walmarts near me all seem to have stopped getting Kershaw and Buck knives, and have only been stocking Camillus and Winchester. A disappointing step backwards if this doesn't change.

Thanks for the clarification. I ordered the one with olive drab handle and black tanto blade. I can't wait for that thing to get here.

My Walmart sells in boxes not clampacks. That being said they sell some nice kershaws. Ik they used to sell skylines and now have leaks and blurs.

Lol hey im filling in from days to a night shift with a fever over 102. I'm allowed to mispell things :p

Just to make things clear, the Kershaw knives that Walmart sells are the exact same knives all Kershaw dealers/distributors sell.
If you see a different handle color or blade material it was probably an exclusive to that dealer/distributor.

Example: All Camo Leeks were produced for a distributor in LA. If you see them for sell they came from that distributor.
