What is the difference between a modified spearpoint blade and a spearpoint blade?

So I had just ordered a benchmade 530 and when I was looking at the rei version online, it said that it was a modified spearpoint blade. So what's the difference?

I'm about to order one myself. :) I would guess it says modified spear point because of the large swedge. That's just speculation though.

A modified spear point blade is a spear point blade that's modified.

Okay, serious answer now, I think it all depends on what the individual company considers to be "modified", and there are sso many different variations of each common blade shape that sometimes I think the term "modified _____ point" is a meaningless term.

If you drew a line along the center of the blade length-wise you could fold the spear point blade along that line and it would have perfect symmetry (of course with a pointed end otherwise it wouldn't be a spear). There are variations that are not perfectly symmetrical. Spyderco's Leaf Point is one example.

The Benchmade 530 has almost perfect symmetry and the Spyderco Caly3 is leaf-shaped.
