What is the difference between satin and double cut?

I can't tell from what I see on the Busse official site. If possible, could someone post a pic of the two types side by side?

this was asked recently. Here's a cut and paste of some responses:

-->Double cut is bead blasted twice

-->Double Cut: From my understanding the bead blast process is done with 2 different size beads where the second round of blasting smooths out the texture of the first round so that the impressions aren't as deep as they started out.

-->the blade is given a rough satin finish (to remove dimples or other imperfections i assume), then bead blasted.

Top is satin. Bottom is double cut.

They're both smooth. The DC isn't like a parkerized finish or anything. It's smooth to start and wears even smoother.

Do they feel different? Is one smoother than the other?

Satin is polished, buffed out, thus a little shiny. Double Cut is double bead blasted and is more matte. They're just finishes on the raw steel.

Thanks for the info. I plan to order a HACK, just not sure which way to go on the blade.

Satin= satin, pretty sure the final finish is applied via scotchbrite belt or wheel of some sort. It looks similar to other factory knives where the satin finish runs from spine to edge as opposed to lengthwise. Double cut= a smooth bead blast finish.

Satin is better. (for me) Doublecut shows scratches more at first, but eventually wears down and gets kinda nice. But doublecut blades aren't as finely finished- if you sand down through the finish, there are grind marks hiding under there.

These photos show the Satin finish:

The only downside to Satin, in my opinion, is that it is more difficult to photograph, because you need to be more careful due to its reflective nature. It's not mirror-like, mind you, but is definitely not matte, like Double Cut is.
