a munk AK bowie and a munk chunk cleaver? Maybe they are the same thing?
Someone please enlighten me.

What does "AK" stand for?

Thanks

The Munk Chunk, Munk Chunk Cleaver, Munk AK Bowie, Bullet Bowie, etc are all the same thing;)

A very brief history of this blade is that forum member Cobalt came up with a bowie design very much like the Munk Chunk years ago. The kami's version of the design ended up looking like the regular AK bowie as seen on the website.

About 2 years ago, forumite Munk revisited the original idea of a large straight edge bowie that could do double duty as a heavy cleaver in the kitchen. A couple of months later, the first 15" 2lb chunks of steel came from Nepal. It is a fantastic chopper, if a bit heavy. I have one of the first 3 or 4 produced, and it is one of my favorite knives that I own. I was probably THE biggest AK bowie fan. However, upon receiving this gem as a birthday present to myself a couple years ago, I actually gave my old AK bowie to my father.

The problem is, no one really came up with a name that stuck. So, it gets called lots of things. If it has "Munk" in the name, it's probably the same straight edge knife.

Hope this helps!:)
