Curious to know what's the most popular Rockstead knife in the $1,500-$2,000 range

Weird you didn't get some hits on this one.
I don't own one but am a fan and curious so at least this will bump the thread . . .

Anything in that price range should be quality.

I think 'popular' is irrelevant due to that price range.

Buy what you can, use what you buy.

I mean that's what I thought but turns out the SHU is waaaay more popular than any Higo 2 despite a $30 difference

To me, Higo 2 looks like a Japanese attempt at an "American" folder, while the SHU is Japanese design through and through. Maybe that's why Americans lean towards the SHU and the Japanese in Japan lean towards the Higo?

If you had to keep one, which one you keeping? Higo 2 or SHU?

Shu all day. Dig the design. Blades got a little more meat, nice since they are all brittle. Button lock is a pleasant change for me as I don't normally buy them. Engraving is cool. Full Ti. ZDP189 on that one.

I see more Higos listed for sale on the secondary market so they may be the more popular model. Fortunately for my wallet I have not handled one personally. Before I spend that kind of money I want to physically handle the knife.

That's what I figured but then my wife (with opposite womanly thinking) was like maybe there's so many Higos for sale on the secondary market because people buy them and then dont really like em and sell them? While the SHU, you don't see for sale as often because they love it and keep them?

I'll be honest, I wasnt impressed with the Higo 2 (Dark Matter Gold) fat carbon for the short time that I owned it. The blade was the only impressive thing, the knife overall, for $1750, not really. I've handled alot of really expensive knives in my day, and most knives over $1000, are usually as high quality as it gets. Spending $5000 won't get you 5x better quality, just the prominence and maybe something unique, we all know that, but something about the Higo 2 that was just missing the oomph for me.

That's why I started this thread. Wondering if i overhyped myself or just got the wrong Rockstead for me?
