what is the pirate membership?

I've been looking at getting a membership here and saw the pirate membership, this got me wondering what exactly it does seeing as it doesn't list anything other than "this membership has its privileges"

I'm guessing not; I bet it shows as Platinum.

2012, so no idea if this is still how it works:

Pirate level membership grants you all the perks of the Platinum, but also gives you larger specs for avatars, unlimited PM's, photos, and all the trimmings.

Think of it like Platinum ++. The membership is good for 2 years, and is very select crowd.

It stemmed from people wanting to donate more, to help the site, but also wanting to get a little more status.
