I have been censured twice by knarfeng
first he locked a thread about notched knives in which I mentioned Jewish people's custom of having different cuttlery for meat than for cheese, butter and fish.

I never agreed nor understood why that thread was a problem.

Now knarfeng has given me another infraction, this time for quoting a post that contains a picture of a knife with notches.

I did not say anything about Jewish people, I only asked for pictures of the other side of the knife.

How in the world does that constitute trolling? I replied to a current post, and remained respectful and on topic. I did not mention Jews again.

I really feel frustrated by the imposition of a penalty for talking about a photo of a notched knife.

What IS the problem with me posting about notched knives pictures?

The first thread was centered around knives purported marked so as to help keep the Jewish kosher laws. Most of the posts were by non-Jews who were unfamiliar with the topic. One of our long time Jewish members who has had rabbinical training was upset by it. I closed it. You know why, Jon. We had a prolonged email discussion about it.

The latest post linked to a discussion of the same topic Jon started on an off-site board. Not cool.

If you want to discuss items pertaining to someone else's religious beliefs on another board, have at it. Do not hold such discussions in the Traditional Forum and do not link to such discussions.

Ok thanks
So the problem this time is that I linked to an offsite discussion?

Yes I started a thread offsite, so the one Jewish person here who objected to me talking about Jewish custom would not be offended.

I am also Jewish, don't I have the right to talk about knives with notches?

Apparently not if one Jewish person objects, privately to a moderator.

I still don't get why my post is offensive?

We're talking about knives with notches. What is so offensive?

Jon,

please, pull your head out of your tokhes.
You've been given plenty of explanation as to why your posts were removed and why you may not repost them.
You have three choices.
1) play be the rules as given. Listen to instruction. participate.
2) log out.
3) push limits and agenda and lose any choices.

Plenty of reasons?
The only reasons I've been given are that someone objected, don't know why.

And the latest reason is that I linked to an offsite post, which again, I see nothing offensive or trolling.

Did you see anything offensive in my offsite link?

Head up my ass? Lovely if you to say so.

Get real, I'm questioning sincerely because I still don't see what's wrong with talking about notched knife history.

What exactly IS offensive about my posts?

jon, sometimes you just gotta know when to take your ball and go home and wait to play another day.

while your reasoning may have some merit and perhaps none of the points / posts in the prior thread intended any malice, the fact is that the matter has been discussed, mulled over and a decision rendered in good faith. maybe not the best or wisest decision (in your or anyone else's opinion) but one made by the traditional forum mods who are trying to do the best they can within the constraints of the forum, its members and the rules.

there is no higher court to appeal your case to in the current instance. time to let this one go and move on imho. failure do so will probably end up badly, and needlessly...again, imho.

now the ball really is in your court.

OK, since no one here can tell me what is trollish about my link, I remain unable to comprehend why I am being marked for violations.

I will take my ball and go home

good bye

I consider it entirely hypocritical that this site allows religious signatures, but I am not allowed to discuss jewish knives. Glad to have understood we are not a good match.

Let's close this now as nothing further is to be gained at this juncture.
