What is the purpose of the liners?

The liners between, the micarta scales and the knife steel, what are they for? I'm just curious.

They look good, they are a sign of quality, and IIRC they provide a better fit between the Micarta and the tang. Rather than the Micarta itself flush up against the tang.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that is true. If it does make the micarta and tang fit better, RC would include in the rest of their line to, but they don't. Also many other good companies (busse kin, bark river, ranger knives, gossman knives, etc..) don't use liners as a standard either (but you could get it with it if you like). I think it's there just for looks.

I personally don't like the bright green liner on the standard RC-3, but I love the red on the SWAT knife. :thumbup:

actually, i do believe i read somewhere that they were for a better fit up. yes compaies like Busse do not use them, but i guess it can be something that RAT is trying. they look good IMO though:p

I'm not sure either; but I recall reading and hearing about it in some reliable places.

It would be great if Mike or Jeff or a Knifemaker could post and give us an authoritative answer.
(Assuming there is one.)
 
IIRC you read that they help the fit right here. Jeff mentioned that and then came back and said that they were just for looks.
