what is the rationale for not bumping threads anymore

Mods, if this is in the wrong place please move it to where it should be.

they changed the way the exchange works, if you add a post the thread does not bump, so if you posted it I guess they stay in the order they were listed.

Why is this supposed to be better? I liked it the old way.

This way I think nobody sees my ad and I haven't sold anything. If it continues will have to think of a better way to sell stuff.

You can still sort the threads by last post. I like it better because people can't bs a post just to bump the thread and keep it at the top

Certain people were bumping their threads 20 times a day to keep them as the first post, making it harder for anyone else to sell their stuff.

This has been in place for about 6 months now, and most sellers seem to be moving product with no problem. If you don't have an attractive item or an attractive price, that will impact the sale, and, yes, once it slides down a few pages, it will be hard to sell. While bumping is disabled, you are allowed to repost after 2 weeks.

I think this encourages sellers to post reasonable prices, and be willing to drop them fairly quickly if they don't sell.

The primary reason for the change was what GWashington1732 pointed out. Some sellers and their friends were bumping their threads constantly, even though we tried to limit attaboys. It was a real burden on the moderators, trying to keep a level playing field.

Also, since the current system keeps ads in their original chronological order, all a buyer needs to look at are the new sales at the top of the list When he gets down to a sale he's already seen, he knows he isn't interested. If he is interested in an older thread but wants to see if the price goes down, he can find it more easily, knowing the starting date.

Add a link to your sig, and the problem solves itself.

I can't find the 2 week rule in the rules here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=746&a=98

I was about to report a guy who re-posted after 3 days (while my item sits stagnant on page 6 or 7 after a week), but decided I would read the "new" rules first, and it looks like there is no limit on relisting at all. That can't be right.

Before I relist my item, is the 2 week rule still in effect?

After an extra second of thought, I probably should have started a thread of it's own for this, so ow I will
