Whats the purpose of having no logo on a knife?

Why would you want the logo in some cases, and in others not?

I've heard a few people that object to the "Combat" in "Busse Combat"... I'm not one of them. Another reason may be elegance in simplicity?

Doesn't it have something to do with military and special ops teams? Something about none of their gear showing manufacturer's marks so if captured the enemy could not identify country of origin, etc. Say if someone were to drop a knife on a mission, that the enemy finds later. A "Busse Combat" marked knife next to an exploded Iranian nuclear reactor might raise some eyebrows in Iran, lol!

It'd be fine as long as there was a nuclear symbol on the sheath. :p

Good question. I've wondered that myself. I much prefer having a small simple logo to sterile. However, I can't stand the almost full blade logos/model names that some companies use.

I like to imagine that they are catering to both those who prefer logos, and those who do not (or, those who have a real need for their knives to be sterile).

Personally, I don't care for logos. However, I usually do not find a small logo to be a problem.

Busse knives are stylistically distinct. Busse can rest assured that their knives are recognizable to knife enthusiasts, regardless of whether logoed or sterile.

This is actually the correct answer.

Well, that is the rumor anyway. What if someone had to leave an MP5, magazine, CRK bowie, or even a spent shell casing? While the reason you site for not having a logo sounds cool at first blush, I can't see how it makes a difference. Busse knives go all over the world, so if one was left behind, I don't think it would say anything (other than the person who left it has good taste in knives, of course :p) about where it came from.

simple, they can't afford to pay Jerry's prices in 3rd world countries :p:D

Actually, you would be surprised. I've visited a couple of forum websites similiar to bladeforums that was in some sort of Arab language and another in some sort of Asian language. They were posting pics of Busses and posting specs just like we do here.

I was at a cigar site the other day as well, one of the posts was from a guy who had returned from the middle east with 7 boxes of cubans. I would imagine that some of our soldiers have traded just about everything you could imagine for something to bring home that you can't get here. Chances are Busse's have been gifted or traded as well.

I think by now you would be hard pressed to find a country you couldn't find a Busse in.

My understanding of a sterile blade was that it had been stripped and either Bead Blasted or hand Satined as a finish and the logo had gone....this can also happen if you fully convex a sabre grind blade...

I have some doubts as to the other explanation....seems pointless to me as well....

it's for Ninjas...

LOL!!! If that was true, then ALL of mine would be sterile. ;) As proof, below is a picture of me in my ninja outfit. Note how well I blend in. :p And to help you out, I'll put a red X on my chest in the pic!!! Pretty cool, eh???

WTF???

You need to work on your blending in skillz.:D

I've thought the same thing about not having a logo on it. Some people are worried that they are not real busse if there is no logo and I have a few knives like that. But did anyone ever try to make counterfeit ones?

There are a lot of manufacturers of tactical knives who provide a sterile version specifically for the military.

One specific case in point that comes to my mind is the Gerber Silver Trident. It was designed by William Harsey Jr. and a guy who was the founding member of Navy Seal team 2. The knife comes in a sterile version and was designed specifically for Special Ops.

Well I used the link you gave and searched for Silver Trident and the result was there was'nt one???

Did you check it???

There is a lot of "bollocks" talked in marketing on knives....I would'nt believe all you hear...I can remember back when the false claims about "Buckmasters" being issued to Navy Seals had Buck withdrawing the knife...and I have yet to meet a Recon Marine who has a Bravo 1 from BRK&T on an as issued or even designed and procured basis...

I think the SOG "SEAL" knife is the only one I know to be issued....and that does say SOG on it...but mostly if you want a good knife better than that issued you buy your own....at least you do over here....and usually they have markings on them and are preferred that way over here if you are spending your own money....
