What is this khukri, is it even a khukri?

I think it's an offshoot of the Alan Parsons Project. My friend has a few of their albums on vinyl.

i fell in love with it, as well as everyone else in the forum, and the project became an obsession.
Cyberbeast made a wooden model. his dog ate it.
he made another one.
then we finally got a prototype and some jerk in japan bought it.
