believe it was called the "buckmaster" came with two removable spikes on the hand guard. just curious as to what it might be worth. i have one that is mint, didn't know if i should hang on to it.

...It was the "184" Buckmaster of which you can find about 40 tons of information on by using the search function. Lotsa folks here have them...I'm a folder kine guy...all I know about 'em is that they look like I might cut myself with one of 'em..  .:D ...P.S. quarterbore.net also has a lot of info on them...

Watch the BuckMaster's on eBay for a while to get a feel for how they sell and for what price. I think they mostly sell now for more than they cost originally, IIRC. If that is the case, then lucky you!

Well, hikeeba, you went and spoiled the fun:grumpy: :D :grumpy: I was just getting ready to tell WVHILLS that he should send it to me and I would do him the a favor by hanging on to it;) ;). Preston

thanks for the information, i might hang on to it a little while longer. so could it be considered some what collectable???

can you post a pic ? there were grey ones and black ones older ones had no bloodgroove and the newer ones did the early ones had a small compass in the endcap the newer ones had a much larger seperate compass

no pics as of right now, maybe later this week. this model has no blood groove and a larger SILVA compass on a neck lanyard. it's grey btw.

G'wad do I feel old with post like these.
The Buckmaster was my very first Buck knife back when they were considered (would you believe?) uncollectable and far too much of a knife that's wasn't worth its incredible weight.

Prices on the buckmaster 184 vary (pre-patent, patent pending and post patent). Which one do you have?

Patent Pending....NIB still have the Flitz package.gotter in 1986.
Box has gotten worn and wrinkled....but the knife is still a beauty
