I do believe you're referring to me! Your post right now is marked at 8:10PM whereas my post sharking 9/23 #2 Gift 18" 37oz Vojpuri was made @ 04:25PM and the deal began at 1:03PM.... 4 hours is a long time - good deals tend to get snatched up VERY quickly! I was surprised it was still available after 3 Hours when I sharked it - I've seen similar deals go within minutes. Anyways, sorry I ended up snagging this one from you - better luck next time?

Also, I'm actually kind of curious as to your question myself.... I have a 15" Ang Khola by Sher which is awesome, but a little too small for my intended usage, hence why I sharked the Vojpuri.

I'm not 100% sure what it's like either so I guess I'll steal your thread topic. I'm assuming it's similar to an AK, but without the depression hence the added weight???

You're the guy... Good Snag! Could you do a review?

Yeah - sure thing! It's the least I could do for sharking the deal out from under you. I hope my above post didn't come off as rude - it's so difficult to convey emotion over the net. Like I said, I bought a 15" Ang Khola (also by Sher the tiger - my favorite kami as he's known for thick, slightly overbuilt kuks) and while it's a beast of a chopper, I found that it was just a little shorter than I wanted (the kukri is to supplement a BK-2 for camping).

I'm thinking that the 18" Vojpuri will be more along the lines of what I want - a bit longer and weightier. I'll be sure to compare it to the 15" AK after the Vojpuri gets here and I get them both razor sharp :D

For now - my AK by Sher (the tiger):

Many Nepal-based khukuri manufacturers have a 'Bhojpure' model in their lineup, a slightly larger than average khukuri that is claimed to be originally from Bhojpur region/village of Nepal. I think they look relatively similar to HI's recent Vojpuri style, so I'm guessing that's the background ... could be wrong though so I'll wait for the experts to chime in.

It seems that this is true upon searching other kukri providers (which I don't like to do all too often :p). The "'Bhojpure" models that I have been able to find from other sites do seem very similar in dimensions to the one pictured in Uncle Bill's 76th Bday special.

Thank you very much for the information! We'll see how the design stands up to the famous AK though :D

No I wasn't thinking you were rude - that was intended as a sarcastic or ironic "you are the guy" Fairs fair, you posted first!

i believe it is just a spelling anomaly.i bought a bhojpure on dotd that looks like the same model..

... and here's some info on Bhojpur, a district in Eastern Nepal, main town is also called Bhojpur, wiki mentions that it is home to many skilled Newar craftsmen renowned for their metalwork, "particularly khukuri knives" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhojpur,_Nepal

BTW, there is a Bhojpur in India as well, a district in the Eastern state of Bihar. This Bhojpur, of course, has nothing to do with our khukur! I'm pretty sure :)

Also the Bhojpuri language/dialect, which may have originated from this area, is widely spoken throughout wide swathes of eastern India - Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, even parts of southeastern Nepal (Terai area bordering Bihar). As well, a large number of Indian settlers in the Caribbean and other islands came from this area so they took this dialect with them and it's now spoken mixed with creole out there (Guyana, Suriname, Fiji, etc.). As a kid I lived in Bihar for a few years and I remember my Hindi being tinged with Bhojpuri slang for a while - not the coolest thing when you travel elsewhere as Bhojpuri is regarded in other parts of India as a bit rustic to say the least!

Ah - I always love to get a bit of a history lesson behind these kinds of things. Thanks for all the great info man

Guys, just to clarify, the Bhojpuri language, etc. I was talking about above is from India and NOT the Bhojpur in Nepal associated with our khukuri. :)
