I just encountered mine last night on a new knife I bought a couple days ago. I tried to use the 30 and 40 degree slots on the Sharpmaker, but neither would work, so I ended up using the slot for scissor sharpening instead. I noticed when I tried to sharpen it, the bottom part of the blade was taking a nice edge, but the top portion wasn’t hardly getting sharp at all. So I used the sharpie trick and realized that I had to twist the upper portion of the edge toward the rod all of the way to the tip. Actually on one side it looks like I am almost cutting into the rod. I thought about having my entire edge redone so both sides are the same.
