I just got this the other day from a good friend. He says someone brought it to him from the Phillipines (SP?). I was wondering if anyone knows what it is and what it's worth.

Its not a full size one, it's a bit smaller, I don't have a ruler on hand but here is a Handspring and a Nokia 6190 next to it for size comparison

Here it is closed. There are what seem to be three little coper insterts that I think holds the outside of the handle to the inside??

And here is the latch.

Thanks in advance.

No idea what the price would be but it looks like a 9" spearpoint (maybe larger, could you please tell us the size?) and a different handle style than I've seen, the handles sound like a sandwich liner though, I just haven't seen that kind of texture on the top and bottom of the handles. Maybe it's around $30-60 I really don't know.

What is it? It's a really blurry picture, that's what it is.

The knife is, I guess, a FHM. The file work on the latch sort of gives that away. Contrary to common myth, I am assured that the filework is purely decorative and is not any sort of maker's mark. Looks like a handground spearpoint, yes. The "skeleton" holes do not appear to go all the way through. That is interesting. It is my opinion that the skeletonized handle is an American development. So, that might indicate that this FHM is newer. But, it's hard to tell from these pictures. The Filipino makers use all sorts of stuff as inserts. It's often an interesting detective case to figure out what an insert is.

That is just about the right price range on those. People will pay up to $60 for the really fancy Batangas Knives, but for the sold brass and the plainer bone or wood, it would be difficult to get $60 for a 4" size handle. I have some that have a 6" handle and open up to 11" and they are just sitting here. I would be willing to let them go for maybe $45 at this point. Thanks, JohnR7 WWW.BalisongKnife.Com

As far as 'worth' is concered, I was just curious, the knife has too much sentimental value to sell...

But thanks for your replies.
